Alan loved Foodbank Victoria and the impact that it had on the lives of so many Victorians. During his time as Chair, I travelled with Alan across Victoria, meeting our charity partners and the people that needed our help.
Alan cared about people, he cared about their lives and the importance of their dignity. He wanted people to feel welcome and cared for when they needed help, to make sure that when they turned to us, they received a welcoming smile and the best quality food, presented just like it would be in a supermarket.
Alan was passionate, caring, thoughtful, insightful, softly spoken, intelligent, my mentor and my friend.
Alan drove me to make Foodbank better, and when it got better, to be better again. Along the way, he made me better too.
Everyday I continue that journey to be better, as do the entire Foodbank team, and Alan will always be there keeping us company and providing advice.
